Papu papu is the chief of the tribe of N.Sanity Island. Nobody knows when or how long him and his ancestors have lived on the island, but they have been there for many generations. They're also a civilization untouched by the outside world, at least until Dr Cortex and Brio came along with their crazy schemes and science...
Papu papu isn't pleased by the presence of the Cortex Castle, and believes it to be a bad omen. Especially the presence of Crash Bandicoot. He even tried to attack Crash when he interrupted his nap inside his hut, but the bandicoot proved too cunning and agile for him. And so, he has a hatred for bandicoots and his people attack them on sight. But most of his tribesman fear the likes of Crunch (although he doesn't like to pester them on purpose, unlike Crash!)
But some time later once his tribesfolk have gotten used to Dr Brio and some of the mutants, he and a few other tribesman start to learn English with the help of Nitrus Brio. Although Papu's English is a bit broken, he can still communicate whenever he must. He even ends up opening a shop that sells clothing for 'big and tall' people, as well as food such as taro and corned beef.
He is rumoured to have several wives as well. big is beautiful!
